Renovation *Headache*

Visit a couple of contractors and an ID recommended by my client who did up her mother house @ clementi.

Of course, we visited renotalk and i took ages to decide which we want to shortlist. Shall list down here.

1) UnImpress21 Design & Build - taken from renotalk

2) Totally Basic Interior Design - same as above

3) Chng Poh **** - recommend by my cousin who did up his house.

4) iinchstudio design - from my client

Let talk above pt 1.

We book our virgin renovation talk with UnImpress21 and find out more about what we want. Unfortunately advises from them are pretty much underwhelming as we expect a little more from them but.. :( Advising us to change the MBR toilet to bi-fold door & shower screen to make look bigger as our toilet in MBR is really small and it will hit the rain shower if i open my door full swing more than 90degrees.

Jasline was the one who serve us. She a nice lady, very patient however lack abit of knowledge, most of them Henry was the one explaining to us. As the talk getting abit too dry, we stop after 2hrs and told them we are more of less done and ask them to send us a quotation.

Few days later, quotation was $19k with GST. i was wondering, why da hell i need to pay GST?  Negotiate with them and end up they absorb the GST. however i wasn't very impressed as they do not want to list down every individual price in their package when i asked them. so we wanted to have more quotations, so i visited more.

Point 2 - Ba**c Interior Design.

Was served by Michael, was a very rushed discussion.. wasn't able to absorb everything, did give us a few pointers here and there on the aluminium tracks on wardrobe and stuffs. Entire discussion completed within an 1hr. As he was in a rush.

Received the quotation and many items we discussed were missing. Didn't got my name and my wife name and the total cost was $16k. quotation look damn basic as it was created with a word document rather than excel. Decided not to shortlist them.

Point 3 - Chng Poh *****

Didn't engaged or meet up with them after seeing their worksmanship. as my cousin is a very easy going person. quite a bit of things i wasn't very impressed. Did manage to book an appt with them but end up cancelling it.

Point 4 - iinchstudio design.

Thanks to my client, basically he's an ID. Initially meet up with him was not impressed as i got an impression that i'm gonna get chop. however he ask us about our budget and he will work according to it. which we thought was okay. Told him that i got a few quotes already. throw it to him and we work according to our budget.

We selected him in the end as he's able to draw for us what we want, and more towards practical rather than more design here and there.

Total price was $20k. exclude electrician. He got an electrician for me and quoted me $2k for quite a bit of job. will reveal more tomorrow. =)
